BTM203: Financial Awareness, Accumulation, Independence and Relationships with Walli Miller

Walli Miller, financial coach, entrepreneur and today’s guest is passionate about all things money – including spending it. This wasn’t always the case – growing up Walli picked up traits from her environment that hindered her success with money early on. She became self aware of her relationship with money and bad money habits as she approached 6-figures at her 9 to 5 job. Doubt, shame and self sabotage began to creep in.

As Walli started to course correct, she submerged herself with knowledge from books, podcasts and other financial coaches. She started investing more and saving less. She started to foster an actual relationship with her money and take control of her life. Today she makes more money with her investments than at her 9 to 5 job and is on track to exit the rat race any moment from now.

Key Points From This Episode:

BTM174: Budgeting, Saving and Investing for Financial Freedom with Todd Miller

This week on the podcast, I interviewed a real estate investor/financial coach Todd Miller, who has spent the past 11 years building up his passive income portfolio to quit his job.

His strategy was straightforward and not at all different from the plans many of us make to leave our soul sucking day job.

You know… Budget, save, invest and retire early on the beach somewhere.

If only it were that simple.

See we can know the steps but not understand them. We can understand the steps but not implement them. We can implement them but not succeed.

There are numerous areas in which we can fall short of the ever elusive financial freedom that we desire.

But if you’ve known me for any stretch of time, you are aware that I’ve made it my mission to help all of us better succeed.

Rather than claiming life changing results in a single episode, we wanted to help you with the baby steps for budgeting, saving and investing in hopes that these small actions will have massive results for you later down the line. This is a good one!

BTM170: Your Money Mindset Matters

Most of our beliefs form in early childhood and often times from our parents and loved ones.

I always play with this idea: If I was born 200 years ago halfway across the world, how different would my belief system be? So who’s to say my beliefs now are true? See, it’s some trippy stuff.

This leads me to believe that our beliefs are simply things that we hold true in our own minds and that at any time, we can change those beliefs – but only if we choose to.

On today’s show, I highlight the beliefs about our financial goals that may be holding many of us back – the type of beliefs that cause most of us to stagnate or burnout or not get started at all.

Your money mindset matters and today we are going to see just how deep down the rabbit hole we can go to uproot the things that aren’t serving us.

BTM166: The Pursuit of Financial, Location and Time Freedom for Immigrant and Ex Wall Street Trader Linying Zou

Today’s guest, Linying Zou is on a mission to achieve one thing – help people achieve freedom in their lives, by breaking free from the constraints of money, time and employers.

On this episode, we discuss exactly how Linying was able to achieve this feat in her own life. As a former Wall Street trader, her initial dream was to become a partner at her firm but she quickly realized that she was a pawn and had no true way to wealth if she kept down that track. After a few failed entrepreneurial partnerships and a 6 month trip halfway across the world she decided that it was finally time to settle on real estate as her wealth building vehicle and has been on a trip to her freedom number ever since.

Key Points From This Episode:

  • How Linying’s immigrant upbringing affected her financial future
  • The importance of a “freedom number” and how to calculate it
  • Why Linying attributes her success to her “miracle morning”
  • The decision Linying made to start investing in multifamily apartments
  • How you can use real estate to replace your income and travel the world
